Production Blog: Final Task Editing the New Scenes!

Image
Hey guys!  As you know we finally filmed so now we move on to the next step. We decided to do something a bit different.  We edited on the same day that we shot. Jenna has mentioned several times that she has no trouble editing, as we all know, so she had no trouble filming and editing the previous projects. Jenna likes being inn control to ensure everything goes according to plan, which is why she prefers it over acting. However, we will now discuss adding the credentials. The names of the studio and the production company are the only remaining credentials, though we're not quite done with them yet. Depending on the background, these credentials are all displayed in red, white, or black. The actor credits are as follows: Jenna Antonelli, Mia Hoepelman, and Zoe Reyes.  Those are the only actors we have; we were all in at least one scene together. Next is the movie's title, The Call, which we developed based on the narrative's flow. The song by Christopher Field and Brand

Production Blog; Film review mistakes fixed!

Image
Hi blog! Welcome back to Zoe’s world! I'm returning to let you know about the updates. As you may be aware, following our film review, we had to make some adjustments. We had to rework it since, as our reviewer Franshesca pointed out, we failed to include quite a few camera angles. We went back to my house yesterday after school and reshot a few sequences using the new camera angles. The camera angles we left out were high angle, low angle, tilt shot, dissolve shot, shot reversal shot, and the establishing shot, as I expressed in my last blog.  We reshot scene seven, where she is taking her mother's necklace out of the jewelry box, for our high angle. This scenario was the easiest to recreate as the first take already sort of looked like this, which is why we chose it for this camera perspective. Additionally, it was the most natural choice—and, to be really honest, we should to have considered it first because our original idea was nonsense. The necklace she removes from the

Production Blog: Junior year is really the busiest.

Hey guys welcome back to Zoe’s world. Junior year is really beating us all up. SAT is coming up, homework is being crammed in, preparations for Aice exams are starting, and just chaos. The group tried to meet up to fix the silly mistakes we made while filming. As I’m typing this, you can obviously tell it wasn’t possible. Jenna wasn’t able to pick us up due to her being given mountains of homework. Mia wasn’t able to get picked up because she got this huge project assigned. I couldn’t go because I was at the SAT prep sessions after school and then I had work right after. I was dreading this all week and just looking forward to recording. The original plan was to meet up with each other and film. We just needed an hour to an hour and a half to redo the scenes we made mistakes in. Man it’s a mess! We had so many ideas ready to be integrated into the video but everyone was busy.  We were all super bummed because we'd been planning this for days. It's not just about the video; it

Production Blog; Peer Review!

Hi! Welcome back to Zoe's World! Today we will be focusing on our film review. For our film review, we had our friend in the AICE MEDIA class, Franshesca watch our video and tell us what we needed to fix and what was good. She started by pointing out how many camera angles we overlooked. Then, as I already knew, she pointed out that we had forgotten our credentials. I simply need to remember to remember to do that right away rather than waiting until the last minute. More significantly, though, we must correct those camera angles immediately. We can only shoot on the day we film, as we have stated in previous blogs. However, in order to film again, we will need to rearrange some things. For instance, set a specific day on when we need to fix our mistakes. However thankfully not too many, we still need to correct them in order to earn a good score. High angle, low angle, tilt shot, dissolve shot, reverse shot, and the establishing shot are the camera angles that we missed. The estab

Production Blog; Choosing our music!

Image
Hey guys welcome back to Zoe’s world!    Today will be all about the process of how we chose our music. The group has had a sound in their head but we could never actually name the song . So we took the next step which was searching for the beat on music platforms. We didn’t find the actual original beat but it was as close as it could get. Spotify Premium gave me access to any type of song and beats that I wanted but I just used Youtube. I looked up the beat by humming it into the microphone search bar. The beat we ended up choosing is called Infinitus by Christopher Field and Brand X Music. All the other sounds under the mystery genre sounded spooky or gave a Halloween vibe. This wouldn’t have matched because our genre isn't horror. The best way to describe the beat was slow and into a more rapid and sped-up beat. By giving the illusion of a mystery film, it’s perfect. Famous mystery films always start off with a normal story, a mystery is presented. The characters then try to fi

Production Blog; Editing the Film!

Hey welcome back to Zoe’s world! Since filming was covered in the last blog, I can tell you about the editing portion. Now that you’ve seen the group and how it was recorded, it gives you a better idea. The person in charge of editing was Jenna since Mia filmed and was in some scenes and I was in every scene. To begin with, Jenna filmed on an iPhone in the camera app. Jenna mentioned how there were a lot of retakes, so she would have to go back and forth to pick out the best filmed scenes. After, Jenna had to edit them in the Photos app before she put them all into one. She said she cut them down so they fit into our maximum time frame of two minutes. Using the Photos app was more convenient as CapCut requires more work. Jenna had to edit the length of the scene and also had to mute some scenes that weren't meant to have sound. CapCut was finally put into use. She  transferred all the scenes and started to pieced them all together.   Jenna just had to click them in the order we w

Production Blog; Starting to film!

Hey guys, welcome back to Zoe’s world! Today is the day! We finally start filming our final task. The group met up and we decided to rehearse what was going to be said for about five minutes. As Jenna got her bedroom set up for the first scene, I was ready to be recorded! The first free w scenes weren’t bad. I rarely am ever the main character mainly due to the fact that I hate being the center of everything. I accepted this role because why not, time to face some fears. As we finished the scenes on the bed. The group moved into the kitchen/living room area. We needed a change of location to make the story look realistic. The groups main goal was to make the video flow smoothly while also incorporating the required camera angles. For instance, close up, medium close ups, and medium shots etc. Before the kitchen scenes, we forgot to go outside to the park and school to film those bits. First was the park, it was an easy shot. Then we moved to a nearby school (Northeast) and a tracking s

Production Blog; Getting a start on Final Task but not really

Hey guys, it’s felt like forever! Now I’m back! We’ve finally made it all the way to the Final Task. My group and I successfully planned scheduling and locations to meet up and film. We wanted to start earlier than the last projects because  the group and I agreed that it needed to be good and had to capture the things we learned in AICE Media. Everything was approved by our parents which meant we had our supervisor for the film due to the use of a knife. Something unexpected happened that knocked us off the path we were going for. Mia ended up getting grounded so she couldn’t go out this weekend that we were planning to film. I was called into work by many call outs at her job which also messed with the filming. So that left only Jenna alone but she obviously couldn’t film alone. We talked it out and planned for a better day to film. We didn’t let this affect us in a negative way but looked at it as a way to plan and spend more time revising and organizing the video. While we waited
