Production Blog; Choosing our music!

Hey guys welcome back to Zoe’s world!  Today will be all about the process of how we chose our music. The group has had a sound in their head but we could never actually name the song . So we took the next step which was searching for the beat on music platforms. We didn’t find the actual original beat but it was as close as it could get. Spotify Premium gave me access to any type of song and beats that I wanted but I just used Youtube. I looked up the beat by humming it into the microphone search bar. The beat we ended up choosing is called Infinitus by Christopher Field and Brand X Music. All the other sounds under the mystery genre sounded spooky or gave a Halloween vibe. This wouldn’t have matched because our genre isn't horror. The best way to describe the beat was slow and into a more rapid and sped-up beat. By giving the illusion of a mystery film, it’s perfect. Famous mystery films always start off with a normal story, a mystery is presented. The characters then try to figure out the mystery. It’s perfect for how our mystery film was done. We ran into a small problem, when we inserted the  music, it was loud during the actors dialogue parts. So Mia suggested that we turn it down a bit, and it worked. Another small but resolvable issue we ran into with the music was that as soon as the video ended the music cut out instantly. This made our really look very choppy and if we didn’t put in any effort. To solve this problem, we added a fade out at the end to make it go more smoothly. In the first scene, the main character was overhearing her parents fighting, and she put on her headphones to block out the arguments. Since the groups decided to just film with our group members we didn't have people to play the parents. So we did a very smart thing in my opinion. We went onto TikTok and found a parents arguing sound and attached that. We then played it out loud at max volume. To create the illusion of putting on her headphones, Jenna suggested to add another fade out, so it sounded like once she put the headphones on, the loud sounds went right away. For both of these sounds, we went onto the app and let the sound play while we screen recorded a screen recording of my phone and the sound could be captured. Then we went into the CapCut app, and extracted the sound from the video. Thanks guys, see you later!
