Genre Final Decision

We choose Mystery.  We choose Mystery as our genre because it relates the best to our pitch. Nothing about our pitch is horror like which would be the only other option in our case. If we were to make an entire movie out of this project in my mind I image the rest being a mystery which you will understand more as you read our blogs. Since this is the opening of a movie it’s the being and the rest would be like a trying to find her mother. Mystery makes the most sense because the girl is curious on how her mother is alive.

Another genre chosen was Thriller.  Common camera angles are low angle shots are often used in thriller genre videos to emphasize the power dynamics between characters and to heighten the sense of impending danger. Point-of-view shots and over-the-shoulder shots are crucial techniques for creating tension, drawing the viewer into the characters' experiences, and boosting the excitement of the story.  common Mis-en scene in Thriller videos often feature characters in common costumes such as dark, mysterious attire or disguises, creating an atmosphere of suspense and intrigue. Lighting in thrillers tends to be strategically used, employing shadows and contrast to intensify the suspense, with occasional bursts of dramatic lighting to heighten pivotal moments and evoke a sense of unease. Common editing techniques in thriller videos include fast-paced cuts and quick transitions to build tension and maintain a sense of urgency. Additionally, the use of jump cuts and unconventional came

Genre Conventions Research Blog Horror

One genre we thought of was Horror! • Common camera angles used in horror videos/movies would be high-angles often used to make characters appear vulnerable, low-angle to make characters look more dominant (often the bad one), Dutch angles are also used to create a sense of imbalance and close-ups are used to show fear on someone’s eyes or show a curvature smile. • Common mis-en-scene in horror films are a dark setting in a rural location away from everyone, props often used are weapons such as knives, axes and chainsaws that would create a painful death, Black, red, grey and brown would all be colours considered for a horror film as they all signify danger and tragedy, most people (mainly victims) in horror films look like the are dressed casually but a lot of effort is put into their outfits to show hints of their role and personality in the movie, the weaker characters in the frame are the ones who are opposite the camera on the floor showing how positioning affects how th

One genre we thought of was a mystery Common camera angles used in a mystery video would be close ups to show the facial expression of the actors, e xtreme close ups to emphasize the thing shown like a prop, over  the shoulder shot to give a dark feeling and POV shot may be used to give another perspective of what the actor is seeing.  Common Mis en scene found in a mystery blog are costumes that fit into a mystery are dark colored clothes. The lighting is usually dark to create a mysterious sense and the acting is a fear or scared feeling. Makeup, props and the setting depends on the video. Common editing used in this genre are jump-cuts,  reverse shots, and fade outs. Common sound used is dialogue, diegetic and non diegetic sound. An example of a mystery film I like is The Black Swan. Some elements of the mystery genre that don’t appeal is an event not being explained to create suspense and questions. The guy in this picture looks very mysterious.

Our pitch

Image
Hey guys, welcome to our Pitch  blog! Pitch A: A girl who is still receives a call from her mother who she thought was dead. Pitch B: A group of teens go on a cruise for spring-break but once they leave the port they realize it’s not a normal cruise and they have to try and survive for a week. Discuss Pitch A: I would like to make this film because it would be the most convenient. We have access to the destination for free. Not only do we have access to the destination but everything is free, we don't have to pay for props or anything which is the best case scenario. We have enough actors and don't need to ask anyone to be in it. Not only is the circumstance good but it think this one would be very exciting to film. Discuss Pitch B: This pitch is definitely our second choice. It seems like a very interesting idea but we have several limitations in making it. For one, we can't really get to a cruise or a port to film. Another thing is, we aren't fond of the idea of being

Introduction to the Final Task

Image
One thing about me is I love spending time with my friends!  Hello, welcome to Zoe’s world! Today I’ll be sharing a few things about me. I have many interests in life like music, reading, cooking, baking, and the gym. I love music and how it can express  emotions and express people in many ways. When it comes to music, I’m open to any genre except country. I’ll admit that on some on my free days, I find time to look for new music to put on my playlists. Some artists that I enjoy are Tyler the Creator, Lauryn Hill, Westside Gunn, Pharrell Williams, Bryson Tiller, Kehlani, Summer Walker, Brandy, Karol G, Tupac and Drake. Moving on… I don’t read all the time but if I’m at the pool or don’t have a busy day, I grab one of the books I bought a while back and read for a bit. When it comes to cooking, I like doing it because my brother and I love to cook whenever he comes to visit from the UK, so it’s just our way of bonding. Baking is kind of different. I enjoy doing this alone while music pl

My group for the Final Task

These are the two girls working with me on the Final Task       Hi guys, welcome back to Zoe's world! As you know, the Music video project is over and now is the start of a new project. This project being called the “Final Task”. Given the choice to work alone or as a group, I chose a group. I chose two of my closest friends that fit into this very important final task. The girl in the back middle is name Jenna. The girl in the front middle is named Mia. I feel like if you choose the right people, you will get the work done correctly. Always make sure you pick people that are committed to doing the work and not procrastinate. I decided to work with these girls because we are all good at something that could contribute to this Final Task. The group each has a unique talent that could be used.  For example, Mia has some experience with editing. Jenna likes filming so she has knowledge on it and will apply it to the video. All of the group are very good at coming up with ideas when
